New Film Roster

Good evening folks- Just updating to establish the new Film Roster, effective Thursday, the 12th of February.

The following roster only dictates the films show on the respective Tuesdays and Thursdays @ 2-4pm, in S-6, and does not include repeat screenings of films, nor special screenings of select films.

With that in mind, here are your films!

And don't forget- admission is only $1 each! Bring your food, bring your friends! Come and enjoy quality movies with us here at SSVC.

Movie Suggestions and Donations

Do you have a movie you think is worth showing on campus? Let us know!

All movies suggested to us will be judged on an individual basis, and will be considered based on the following:

  1. Critical reception- box office success alone does NOT dictate a 'good' movie.
  2. Cult following- often a movie's saving grace if it didn't perform well in theatres for whatever reason.
  3. Length of the movie- should be easy enough to fit in a 2hr time frame, unless special screening times are applicable.
  4. Coherency of subtitles [if any]
  5. Visual quality/sound of movie [if on a burned DVD]
Movies will NOT be judged on the following:
  1. Country of origin
  2. Content
  3. Rating [if any]
  4. Box-office success [or lack of]
------

The current Executive Board for SSVC would like to establish a Permanent Film Library for future members of the club to be able to use for years to come. With that said, we are currently asking for donations of either films or cash, so that the club can purchase movies that have been screened in the past, or films that have passed the screening process.

A few rules to notice:

  1. If donating a FILM that is NOT the legitimate disc [a downloaded movie, for instance], please ensure that both the visuals and sound are of the highest quality possible.
  2. Absolutely NO 'street DVDs' [those discs purchased from vendors on the side of the road] will be accepted- sorry.
  3. If donating a FILM that is legitimate, please ensure that the disc is in proper working order. If not, please notify the club so that necessary precautions can be made.
  4. If donating CASH towards a specific film, please notify the President first so that the film in question can be approved.
  5. Those donating CASH for a specific film must provide the SSVC with enough money to cover purchase, shipping and customs in order for the film to be included in the Library.

We Need Your Help!

Willing and able to assist the club get new members?

The SSVC will be having a recruitment stall at the Spring Semester's New Student Orientation on January 5th, 2009, but President Braynen will be unable to man the stall for the first part of the day.

Therefore we need at least three persons to assist with the stall and fill the following positions:
  1. One person to talk about the club and the beneifts of joining SSVC
  2. One person to keep a record of the persons who sign up and who purchase a Movie Pass
  3. One person to hold onto funds
The persons who assist us are not required to stay for the duration of the day, and will be compensated with a free Movie Pass of their choice.

If anyone have any further questions, please email President Braynen @ lindsay.rinjii@gmail.com
